Don't forget, the reason that a lot of folks I know switched to SL in
the first place was that the CentOS community is overflowing with.... I
can't find a polite way to put this other than refer to a certain male
reproductive organ.

This goes for bug reports, forums, IRC channels and mailing lists.

imho, the SL community excels at what it does and should not be 'merged'
with CentOS just because it seems to be the in thing to do.

I do realise the benefits, but please realise that the SL team are the
ones that really brought credit to the SL name and developed the
community. Losing that to become a CentOS clone is far from a successful
outcome imho.
