the problem of dist-upgrade, which is not a regular upgrade.
If you want to jump a release, it is a _complicated_ thing - the apt-get
system must meet future dependencies, and stay operable...
anyway, if you do apt-get dist-upgrade you should be serious and
confident enough to be able to run 
'apt-get -f install'
