Rawhide already forks off the to-be-released version even before the
actual release. The developent model is having rawhide as "HEAD" and
cutting Fedora Core releases out of rawhide every 6-9 months. The RHEL
releases are on an 18 month cycle and aretimes timed to be about half
an FC release cycle away from the latest RHL/FC release that they are
based on.

Until now FC releases were every 6 months, giving 3 FC release cycles
per RHEL release cycle, e.g. RH9 & RHEL3 , FC1, FC2, FC3 & RHEL4, FC4.

See also

http://www.redhat.com/software/rhelorfedora/

which quotes 18 months release cycles for RHEL and 4-6 months release
cycles for FC.

The FC development model will change to 9 months (still fits in RHELs
18 month cycle), so you will get two FC release cycles per RHEL
cycle, or you will get 3x9=27 month release cylces of RHEL.
