Hi Peter,

Dries Repo has pari for SL5/EL5:

http://dries.ulyssis.org/apt/packages/pari/info.html

You can install it directly with:

# rpm -ihv 
http://ftp.belnet.be/packages/dries.ulyssis.org/redhat/el5/en/i386/RPMS.dries/pari-2.1.7-1.2.el5.rf.i386.rpm
