I have done a quick search of the SL list archives for TPM without a
positive result. Boot message:
a tpm error (7) occurred attempting to read a PRC value

There is a set of packages that deal with TPM: tpm-tools and others.

On the web, I have found that one method to deal with the diagnostic
simply is to blacklist tpm
echo blacklist tpm_tis > /etc/modprobe.d/tpm_tis.conf

Is TPM vital to a standalone Internet attached workstation? Will
tpm-tools allow one to accomplish the effect of
the blacklist?

Note the machine does boot and run. However, diagnostics normally
should not be ignored.
