How long has this been going on? And have you tried doing "traceroute"
between your local systems, and the SL mirrors? And given the
difficulty, why not use a more local mirror?

It's often a bit overwhelming to have hundreds or thousands of client
hosts hammering particular upstream mirrors: It's why I tend to
maintain a local mirror for feeding content to my local systems.
