Hi all,

in the following print from grub.conf:

title Scientific Linux (2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.i686)
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.i686 ro root=UUID=8ea0b46d-4a99-4e10
-a40b-6c265ae4a09e

what is the above root= line indicating and what is the significance of
this in the booting process.
I understand that it might point the label or uuid of the root partition
location but what is the significance of this in booting process.?
