Cherokee server is a relatively new substitute for Apache and it seems to
both provide improved performance (http://c6s.co.uk/webdev/209) while also
streamlining the deployment of web applications with it's Market (
http://cherokee-market.com/)

Example: Drupal can be simply installed and configured by a few clicks via
the Market.

Due to the aforementioned attributes, I would like to start a discussion if
it should or should not be added to the main repositories.

Cheers,
Marek
