Can you associate a desktop environment, distro/distro version to this?
It is all a bit vague and a few clues would help in the hunt.

If it is Gnome 3 contacts of an older or newer version. I believe all
depend on 'evolution-data-server' and local address books are stored at:

~/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system
