Hi
After installing the RC in a VM it all installed nicely with no issues and yum updates worked OK.
I installed the EPEL repo and mate-desktop and then I started to get errors. It looks like EPEL mate-desktop is not yet compatible with SL7.3. That makes a change from EPEL being ahead of SL.
