This was released in line with upstream errata RHBA-2018:1383 -- Pat Riehecky Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory www.fnal.gov www.scientificlinux.org ________________________________________ From: Mailing list for Scientific Linux developers worldwide <[log in to unmask]> on behalf of Jason Vas Dias <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2018 7:37:32 AM To: scientific-linux-devel Subject: [SCIENTIFIC-LINUX-DEVEL] where is errata report for gcc-4.8.5-28.el7_5.1 ? Good day - A 'yum update' today would result in gcc-4.8.5-28.el7 and all GCC subpackages being upgraded to gcc-4.8.5-28.el7_5.1 - why ? gcc-4.8.5-28.el7 was only upgraded last week . But the GCC errata page @ https://www.scientificlinux.org/category/sl-errata/slsa-20180849-1/ makes no mention of this update ( according to that page, the latest GCC is gcc-4.8.5-28.el7, issued 2018-04-10 . ). Also, a search of the SCIENTIFIC-LINUX-ERRATA mailing list makes no mention of this gcc update. Moreover, having downloaded the gcc-4.8.5-28.el7_5.1 SRPM, there is no ChangeLog entry later than : ' * Tue Mar 27 2018 Jeff Law <[log in to unmask]> 4.8.5-29 - s390 retpoline support for spectre mitigation ' . Until now, I've been able to rely on SL errata reports / SRPM ChangeLogs telling me why a package is being changed, which is one of the main reasons I run SL at work. Until I can discover exactly what changes gcc-4.8.5-28.el7_5.1 has made wrt gcc-4.8.5-28.el7, about which there appears to be no documentation at all, I cannot apply this update to our systems. Please, could anyone provide a ChangeLog for gcc-4.8.5-28.el7_5.1 changes wrt gcc-4.8.5-28.el7 ? Thanks & Best Regards, Jason
