As much as it makes me wince, can you test it on Gnome or KDE? Or if you're feeling a bit retro, you're welcome to try my "vtwm" building tools at https://github.com/nkadel/vtwm-5.5.x-srpm . I've found vtwm to be *amazingly* stable and robust.
