I *believe* this kind of "reorganisation of icons" (read: put all of them in the upper right corner, starting with one and aligning all the other in a row next to the first) happens whenever the screen resolution is _smaller_ than the one where the icon positions had been saved. I observed this sometimes when I connected my laptop to a low-res projector and had to adjust display resolutions to "all screens the same", which is typically the smallest common denominator, like 640×480 or so. So a solution _may_ be to store icon positions for a relatively small screen in the original (i.e. the LiveCD?). On the other hand, some of the icons may be unnecessary for a LiveCD (like the Trashbin). Cheers Dirk
