Since the RHEL 7 Beta has been released, it is time to start thinking about themes, backgrounds, and artwork for SL7. This email is aimed to begin the thought process for our more artistic members. A few basic ground rules: - Any submission must be your original work or based on GPL source material (you must provide the GPL source if you use one) - Any submission must be released under the GPL or the applicable Creative Commons License with no restrictions - Any submission must include an SVG version of all images We are primarily interested in backgrounds for replacing the ones provided by upstream. For example: - grub2 backgrounds - gnome 3.8 or kde 4.10 wallpapers - plymouth boot splash The Upstream Vendor's current artwork for 7 can be found at: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/rhel/beta/7/source/SRPMS/redhat-logos-69.1.9-1.el7.src.rpm Our existing SL6 artwork, for the curious, is at: http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/6x/SRPMS/sl6/redhat-logos-60.0.14-2.sl6.5.src.rpm Submission deadline: April 19, 2014 Submission guidelines: - Anyone can submit an entry - There is no limit on the number of entries you can submit, but please try to be reasonable. - Submit your entries by sending them to [log in to unmask] - You can send either the logo, or a link to the logo - You do not have to be subscribed to the mail list to send in a logo entry. - To view entries, go to the mail list archives at http://listserv.fnal.gov/archives/scientific-linux-logo.html Our preferences: - For people interested in using the logo, SL7 will be code named 'Nitrogen'. If you plan to show the whole atom, please be sure to get the correct number of protons/elections. - Scientific Linux is used in Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. It would be nice if our artwork reflected that. Artwork will be judged by the Scientific Linux Team. -- Pat Riehecky Scientific Linux developer http://www.scientificlinux.org/
