The issue was resolved after I downloaded the ISO files from the following link -
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/6.0/x86_64/iso/
The link that is on the SL website most definitely has incorrect ISOs staged for the "Everything Disk 1 & 2" links. The links are -
http://ftp1.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/6.0/x86_64/iso/SL-60-x86_64-2011-03-03-Everything-DVD1.isohttp://ftp1.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/6.0/x86_64/iso/SL-60-x86_64-2011-03-03-Everything-DVD2.iso
The downloaded sizes did not match what was posted on the website. It was smaller. I got the exact same file sizes on 3 retry attempts. Spent a bunch of time trying to figure the problem till I got the mail from Denis with this new link. Looks like FTP and FTP1 are 2 separate servers and they are not mirrored. This should be addressed ASAP to avoid further agony to others.

Are the files exactly the same length? If the one you downloaded first
is longer it might have downloaded with "CRLF" manipulations.
