Hi, SL55 miniLiveCD/LiveCD/DVD for i386 and x86_64 are ready for testing: http://www.livecd.ethz.ch/download/testing/55/i386/ http://www.livecd.ethz.ch/download/testing/55/x86_64/ With every release the individual packages get larger and larger. For example the update of openoffice from 2.x to 3.x needs significantly more space. In order that the LiveCD does not exceed 700 MB some packages have to be removed on SL55 LiveCD (see the list below). Any feedback is welcome. Changes since SL54 LiveCD: - rhgb no longer default boot option for SL55 livecd - add boot parameter "usbdelay", set default to 8 seconds - some bug fixes for diskless clients - Add comment to livecd installer that the SL installer CDs allow a more advanced installation - add the following packages to LiveCD: cpuspeed fuse-smb iwlwifi-6000-ucode java-1.6.0-openjdk (replaces sun jdk) libevent libgssapi microcode_ctl nfs-utils nfs-utils-lib smartmontools system-config-rootpassword tzdata-java udftools vconfig - remove the following packages from LiveCD (only CD not DVD!) (in order to fit still on 700 MB CD-ROM): agg amanda amanda-client amanda-server beecrypt bluez-gnome bluez-libs bluez-utils compiz dumpdvgrab elfutils elfutils-libs gmp gnome-audio-extra gnome-bluetooth gnome-bluetooth-libs gnome-games gnome-keyring-manager gnome-nettool gnome-utils gnupg gnuplot gnuplot-emacs gtkhtml3guile icewm icewm-SL-theme imlib java-1.6.0-sun-compat jdk kernel-headers libbtctl libgpod libnl libpurple libsmi libtool-ltdl libXcomposite libXp lm_sensors mc mesa-libGLU mikmod nautilus-sendto nautilus-sendto-bluetooth nedit net-snmp openmotif openoffice.org-base openoffice.org-emailmerge openoffice.org-graphicfilter openoffice.org-pyuno openoffice.org-xsltfilter perl-Compress-Zlib perl-libwww-perl rmt rsyslog SDL sl-release-notes vim-common vim-enhanced xchat xinetd xterm --------------------------------------------------------------------- Scientific Linux 5.5 Live CD and DVD (32bit and 64bit) --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Scientific Linux Live CD/DVD is a bootable CD/DVD that runs Linux directly from CD/DVD without installing.
