The first alpha release for Scientific Linux 5.4 has been released for both i386 and x86_64. This release has most of the new updated packages from The Upstream Vendors Update 4. It will install, and it appears to work, but no major testing has been done. We have created a DVD for i386, but there are still problems in creating the DVD for x86_64. This does have KVM in it, but on in x86_64. Going along with that, all of the KVM support structure is also only available in x86_64. Note: We have not changed the comps.xml files yet. Thus you will not be able to select KVM during the install. You will have to install it afterwards. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- DOWNLOAD INFO ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/5rolling/i386 http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/5rolling/x86_64 http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/5rolling/iso ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGES by Scientific Linux ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- **qemu ** ** Added due to requirements for kvm ** x86_64 only ** ** qemu-0.9.1-11.el5.x86_64.rpm ** qemu-img-0.9.1-11.el5.x86_64.rpm **gdm ** Change config file to include the "Last" option ** Add theme "EaseOfBlue" ** Changed default theme to be EaseOfBlue ** ** gdm-2.16.0-56.sl.x86_64.rpm ** gdm-docs-2.16.0-56.sl.x86_64.rpm ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGES by The Upstream Vendor ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- **blktrace, gnupg2, hmaccalc, pinentry, pth ** ** Added by Vendor ** **celt051, gnupg2, hmaccalc, iasl, log4cpp, oprofile, **pth, qcairo, qffmpeg, qpixman, qspice, ** ** Added by Vendor ** x86_64 only ** **gcc44 ** ** Updated from gcc43 ** **kvm ** ** Added by Vendor ** x86_64 only
