This doesn't sound normal to me. We were able to create a stable 10TB
ext3 filesystem, though on an external RAID connected through an LSI
ultra320 scsi controller. We gave up on the idea in favor of XFS since
testing showed we'd be in for some long fsck times, but it did work ok.
Is it possible you could have hardware problems?
