</blockquote></div><br>I&#39;ll share my experience on this.&nbsp; We have a small lab of people who don&#39;t have much experience with Linux.&nbsp; They spend most of their time in gmail and Matlab.&nbsp; They don&#39;t have root access to their machines, but do need access to later versions of software and a wider range of software than what is available in SL5.<br>
<br>The solution to me was to keep our servers running SL, but move the desktops to Fedora.&nbsp; I&#39;ve tried Fedora and Ubuntu, and its six of one, a half dozen of the other.&nbsp; They have the later versions of the apps, the wider range of supported software, the quick release cycle.&nbsp; But, I can use many of the same spec files to build for SL5 or Fedora.&nbsp; I can use the same package manager, and many of the same scripts to deal with installing packages for the desktops and the servers.<br>
<br>In short, Fedora solves a lot of the problems that push people to Ubuntu.&nbsp; I wouldn&#39;t want to use it on the servers, but I&#39;m writing this from a Fedora desktop.<br><br><br>
