With the recent root exploit issue, we now have to run the latest kernel (unless the local exploit is not a problem). However, the NFS fix is not likely to be included in the kernel before 5.2. To rectify this situation, Johnny Hughes has built the kernel 2.6.18-53.1.13 with the nfs patch applied and made it available for CentOS. http://people.centos.org/~hughesjr/kernel/5/ These are test kernels and you can find more details in this post: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2008-February/094314.html My tests using the provided x86_64 kernel indicate that the nfs problem is indeed fixed there.
