No, the main difference being that what we use presents (on text screen) configurable timeout counter when user at the console can skip it by a keypress (it can also send pre-formatted e-mail to configurable account) yum-updateonboot just starts and runs immediately (but it also can reboot the system immediately in case some updates requiring it are applied).
