I don't understand this point. If Fermi is providing SL5 and CentOS is
providing CentOS5. I still have the choice between CentOS and SL. But if
SL is "merged" with CentOS, I don't have any choice left - then I have
to go with CentOS. Or what do you mean by "others just have no choice"?

Nevertheless, I still see your argument that having a choice between
CentOS and SL has the effect that two groups of people are working on
two different RHEL clones, instead of one bigger group is focusing on
one RHEL clone. So maybe it's better not to have a choice??
