FWIW I saw this bug for quite some time on newer kernels as
well. Recently it has silenced a bit, even too much: sky2 may lose the
interface connection w/o any hint in logs or /proc. Only thing that
(often but not always) helps is rmmod sky2 and modprobing it again.

Perhaps sk98lin is a better choice, I don't know. If you want to try
that it's available at ATrpms.
