I could not use the driver I found at asus.com (version 1.4.2.0) as it was filling /var/log/messages with plenty of lines like : Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: Badness in local_bh_enable at kernel/softirq.c:141 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c0129b05>] local_bh_enable+0x34/0x51 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c02bcda7>] dev_queue_xmit+0x40d/0x415 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c02f6e4c>] arp_solicit+0x130/0x14e Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c02c278f>] neigh_timer_handler+0x182/0x1be Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c02c260d>] neigh_timer_handler+0x0/0x1be Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c02c260d>] neigh_timer_handler+0x0/0x1be Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c012e587>] run_timer_softirq+0x1eb/0x2d4 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c0129a8d>] __do_softirq+0x35/0x79 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c0109446>] do_softirq+0x46/0x4d Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: ======================= Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c01089f7>] do_IRQ+0x2b3/0x2bf Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c031983c>] common_interrupt+0x18/0x20 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c031007b>] build_polexpire+0x75/0xe0 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c021e96a>] acpi_processor_idle+0xd0/0x1d5 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c010408f>] cpu_idle+0x1f/0x34 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c03ce700>] start_kernel+0x214/0x216 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: Badness in local_bh_enable at kernel/softirq.c:141 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c0129b05>] local_bh_enable+0x34/0x51 Jan 7 21:10:16 localhost kernel: [<c02bcda7>] dev_queue_xmit+0x40d/0x415 slowing down the machine. I also tried the driver found at ralinktech.com (version 1.4.6.6 ) as it crashes my laptop.
