There is the package r1000 just contains the documentation, nothing else. And then for each kernel, there is a kernel-module-r1000-<kernel> rpm. So for the 2.6.9-42.0.3.EL kernel there is the following packages kernel-module-r1000-2.6.9-42.0.3.EL-2.2-2.SL4x.i686.rpm kernel-module-r1000-2.6.9-42.0.3.ELhugemem-2.2-2.SL4x.i686.rpm kernel-module-r1000-2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp-2.2-2.SL4x.i686.rpm You would install the package that corresponds to your kernel.
