Any low-mid laptop should have support for most of the hardware. We just purchased a couple of dell 600's a couple of months back, and everything was supported. Suspend is a different animal: it really depends on the distro more than on the machine (important too). check out this site: http://www.linux-laptop.net/ it has an extensive list of user added laptops that support linux. - don ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Rechenmacher <[log in to unmask]> Date: Monday, November 13, 2006 12:13 pm Subject: laptop for linux To: [log in to unmask] (Connie Sieh), [log in to unmask], [log in to unmask] Cc: [log in to unmask] > Hi, > I was recently asked the question "which laptop should I buy if I > want to run > linux on it?" > I do not have recent experience, but for the laptop I'm currently > running > linux on, I had to and did solve the issues with the > o display driver > o wireless driver > and o suspend to RAM functionality. > > With out any recent experience, I can only recommend (but not a > _strong_ > recommendation b/c of lack of recent experience) a laptop with > o nvidia graphics > o intel wireless > > But if anyone out there has purchase a laptop within the last 9 > months or so > and runs linux and can suspend to RAM, please let me know which > laptop you > have. > > Thanks, > Ron >
