hi
i'm looking to buy a nice and relatively cheap linux box. i'm wavering
between a mac mini and a refrubed dell. i see that the new versions of
the mac mini are now available. the box will primarily sit and crunch
numbers for long periods of time. (does anyone think i'll melt the
mac?) has anyone gotten scientific linux to work on the Intel based
mac minis? i've seen people installing fedora core (and other linux
OSs) with good results.

on a separate note, how do the Core Duo chips compare to the pentiumD?
both are dual-core chips, but are the Core Duos able to crunch numbers
faster?

just curious about others experiences before i make a decision.
thanks in advance
stephen
