Thank you for your answer:)

The files I use come from a RHEL3 update5&6 driver disk image.(It do work when installing RedHat 3 )
I take the modules.cgz from it and extract it  using gunzip and cpio and get some directory
"2.4.21-32ELBOOT,2.4.21-32ELsmp....which contains the *.o driver modules .
After I compiled and get my own  *.o ,I took them replace those *o ,and gzip/cpio them into a modules.cgz file.

I noticed that ,the *.o which I complied under the BOOT kernel do work when I try to ''insmod '' them during installation,I could see the system recognize the correct SAS controller and SAS HDD,but It failed when I choose FORMAT the HDD.

Now ,I wonder ,if the driver image need some special file ,just like some other Linux (Turbo ) does?

What files did you put into modules.cgz ?

I suggest you take a working driver disk image and modify it vs starting
from scratch.
