Hi

I had a similar problem with a IBM RAID controller with 4 scsi disks in a
xSeries 226. My problem was at boot time. Any how, the solution was

  1) I had to download the driver from the IBM support site,
The driver is for RH EL 4 update 1 (SL 4.1), it is not garantee to work
     with new versions.
  2) make an image boot diskette (dd) and
at the begining of SL linux installation enter
  3) "linux dd"
where it asks if want install with GUI or "linux text".
