Well, I suppose the current version of the scientific linux kernel does not recognize the 3114 as kin to the 3112. So, I guess either I need to force the kernel to load the driver with a few parameters, or use the spare LSI Megaraid SATA cards I picked up to install the OS on. They are SI 3112, 64 bit PCI cards with a decent bios interface. Fortunately the cards are only ~30 dollars a piece. Thanks for trying this out! I just arrived in Chicago last night for a few weeks so I'll try to sort this problem out when I get back. If I find a solution of how to get the stock 3.02 kernel to recognize the 3114 controller I'll let ya'll know. Otherwise I might try building an errata boot kernel with a patch or two to make it work. Thanks again! I have just booted Scientific Linux 3.0.2 x86_64 with the install cd on a Athlon 64 system with Silicon Image 3112 and it saw it just fine. I assume the code for 3114 is that same. The code is in there, it was not left out. -Connie Sieh On Thu, 29 Jul 2004, Michael David Joy wrote: > I was trying to install the x86_64 version, and the default build > options are most likely different between the two i386 and x86_64 > versions. > > I know there is a few bug tracks in for low performance of this > controller in the redhat support database, but it's supposed to be > supported in update release 2 that's been out for some time now. > > Thanks for looking into this! > > Michael > On Thu, 2004-07-29 at 15:25, csieh wrote: > > Michael, > > > > On Thu, 29 Jul 2004, Michael David Joy wrote: > > > > > Hello All, > > > > > > I have a question about sata support in SL R3.02. > > > > > > I just finished building 3 dual opteron boxes with 2048MB of mem in a > > > NUMA config.
