xorg problem

I am getting repeated problems reported via abrt-cli as,
for example:

id e775d32b9ca9e8bf97be89d10f35c2bc9c187566
reason:         Xorg server crashed
time:           Tue 02 Jul 2019 22:37:47 BST
uid:            0
Directory:      /var/spool/abrt/xorg-2019-07-02-22:37:47-18486-5

This appears, when it has happened, to throw
my touchscreen stylus registration out (I had not identified
the two problems until recently so I have not experimented
enoguth to verify conclusively they are linked). I am using a kernel
957.1.3.el7 and typically use MATE as my window manager.
Can anyone advise on fixing this?
