Ok, thanks for the pointer. It would've taken me a while to think to dig into grub2.



I'll let you know if I find a more elegant solution for future reference.

    The EFI dir detection logic in grub2/shim/shim-signed are the real 

    culprits.  I just hard coded the result in the spec file.  In theory if 

    you open up the srpm you should see a spec patch that is doing the work.

    

    With that in place the utilities on the CD and in the install root work 

    right again.  Or at least work right on my test box....
