Thank you Mark.
I opted for USB install of the Everything iso.
Downloaded the 8.4 GB file to a fresh partition.
Copied with dd to a 16 GB pen.
Up to here, all looks fine.

But when I attempt to boot from USB, I get the message
 > No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
 > boot:
and I don't know what to answer...
Unfortunately, my last install was several years ago (SL 6.2) and I have 
forgotten almost everything :-(
