Hi,

I have found, that after installing a SL 7.4 system from kickstart with the MATE desktop, there is no login screen.

Eventually I found the link below, that told me that no polkitd user was being created, and this stopped the window manager starting up.

I assume that there is a package missing from my kickstart, but I have not found out what, so I run the commands in the webpage above.

For us, that usually means there has been a kernel/Xorg update that has stomped on the proprietary NVIDIA drivers.  The solution is to reinstall the drivers (if you are using them).
