I did a fresh install and picked the GNOME desktop and various applications and it installed just fine... and the system booted and was completely usable (for however much one would call GNOME usable :)).  That was in a KVM VM on top of my Fedora 26 virtualization host.  Nothing out of the ordinary was noted.
