Hi Maarten,

I write it both Bash and Perl5.

Bash is wonderful if you are doing a lot of system calls.
Bash relies on other programs to do its heavy lifting.
And it is stripped down, which I find constraining

Perl has unbelievable string capabilities.  System
calls can be a bit tricky, especially when passing quotes
