> I have more experience using sound on Fedora systems than I do on EL systems but I think the same advice might apply. On Fedora I occasionally have volume issues where the desktop environment provided mixer controls max out but the volume is no where near maxed... or from individual applications that may or may not match the sound backend and / or widget set of my desktop environment. In all cases I've been able to wrangle control by using the PulseAudio Volume Control program that comes from the pavucontrol package. Hmmm, pavucontrol doesn't seem to be in EL6 or EL7?!?
Thanks. I would go to pavucontrol in Fedora, too, but i suspect a kernel bug (that is why I choose testing repo :) ). On kernel from regular updates sound works perfectly. It's getting late here and I'll try check this tomorrow. Maybe with some messages logs and aplay output,
