The "/boot/vmlinuz-*" filea are compressed versions of vmlinux with a
self extracting pre-amble. See
http://superuser.com/questions/298826/how-do-i-uncompress-vmlinuz-to-vmlinux.

Note that vmlinuz has had its symbols stripped, so if your friend
wants a real vmlinux, he should probably build it from source with the
relevant SRPM.
