Well, consolidation is often a good thing.

You can still buy best performing 3Ware 9750 (2011 model!) from LSI,
they are selling them for those who are fine with 6 Gbps speeds. Don't
think they'll be upgrading it to 12Gbps (not that many people are
interested in real RAID-supporting cards at such speeds, these are
mostly for connecting external storages...)
