I would say so.  It detects the ascii controls, but it doesn't detect
the background color of the screen and pick appropriately (or does it
now?)  I keep an old-school-looking amber-on-black xterm screen, and
the default colors in SL5 and SL6 are Really Bad for that.

I have seen lots of one-off servers setup initially with a video
console, and then hooked up to a serial console server; the RPM is
really handy way to make sure that's done right.  But I don't do that
much anymore, so maybe I'm not the best person to vote.

If they're not too much trouble, I would keep them, as mentioned above.
