/boot/config-2.6.32-431.17.1.el6.x86_64 contains CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD=m,
which indicates that the host controller interface required for USB 3.0
is compiled as a kernel module.

The compiled module can be found in
/lib/modules/2.6.32-431.17.1.el6.x86_64/kernel/drivers/usb/host as
xhci-hcd.ko.

Kernel version 2.6.31 and later have USB 3.0 support. Unless the Renesas
uPD720202 chipset doesn't adhere to the USB 3.0 standard properly (which
is highly unlikely), it should work without issue. NEC/Renesas is a good
choice.

Certain manufacturers like VIA on the other hand have some chipsets
which are pretty flaky under Linux.
