$ su root -c "mount -t ext3 -o user,exec /dev/sdc1 /mnt/LIVE"
Password:
$ umount /mnt/LIVE
umount: /mnt/LIVE is not in the fstab (and you are not root)

By chance was your drive in your fstab?
