I recently upgraded my workstation from SL 5.5 to 6.4. Now for some
reason I an no longer getting automounts of removable USB devices, e.g.
thumb drives. In other words, I am not getting the expected appearance
of a device icon on my desktop as I did with 5.5. The devices are
recognized in 'dmesg' output, and I can manually mount them, e.g.

     sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdl1 /media

I have the 'autofs' service running, yet it apparently doesn't function
as it should, and I see nothing in the logs related to it. I have also
compared the new 'fstab' to my 5.5 'fstab' file and see no significant
difference. I am running the KDE desktop, but I also ran it with SL
5.5. Any suggestions or advice of a solution or explanation?
