There is an el6 rpm of fvwm in epel beta.  I don't know why it is still
beta, but I've been using it without problems.  There are also rpms for
current and previous fedoras, so it's likely to be available for sl7.

Not sure what counts as "no bs", but the overhead for fvwm comes at the
beginning in setting up the rc file.  After that, it stays out of your way.
