ath9k (supposedly the driver for the TL-WDN4800 WNIC) is present in the
default (stock) SL kernel installation:

/lib/modules/2.6.32-358.6.1.el6.x86_64/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath9k

uname -a displays 2.6.32-358.6.1.el6.x86_64

There are three kernel modules:

ath9k_common.ko ath9k_hw.ko ath9k.ko

Does this driver need firmware for the WNIC? If so, does anyone know
the directory path or the download for the necessary firmware?

[ykarant@localhost kernel]$ man ath9k
No manual entry for ath9k
[ykarant@localhost kernel]$ apropos ath9k
ath9k: nothing appropriate

thus there is no immediate obvious documentation for the ath9k module

What steps are needed for Network Manager to "see" this driver for
testing and use? (For a 802.11 WNIC that must use DHCP, Network
Manager, though having issues, is the simplest enduser approach.)

Any information would be appreciated.
