While I haven't gotten any reply of any kind to this message, I'll give a status report anyway.

The SLC54 IA64 install on the 30 CPU Altix 350 is successfully rebuilding the CentOS 5.5 sources as I write this; I expect the build to take a while.  It's about a third of the way through, going by number of source packages.  I intend to rebuild up through CentOS 5.8, and perhaps do a rebuild there to SL 5.8 as well (as we're an astronomical observatory/educational institution, having at least one of the Altix boxen running Scientific Linux has its PR aspects.....:-)....).

And juding by the lack of response, I'm going to assume that there isn't any interest from the broader SL community, and while I will post about successful completion, I'll not bore everyone with progress reports.
