I have to reproduce it first.  Pretty sure slocate is not running
as I can not find it on my machine.  I have Xfce's "Performance Monitor"
plugins configured for both my hard drives, so I will pay
close attention.  A mouse over will give a nice synopsis.

My suspicion is on VLC.  Seems that the only VM I do any actual
work in is XP.  (W7 is too slow.)   Seems when I go into the
non-XP VM's, my mind set is to research something.  When I
am in XP, I am doing administrative work, so I fire up VLC.
(How can anyone possible write invoices without Puccini blaring
in the background?)

So, the game is a foot!
