Hm. I see xdvipdfmx in the SL6.2 repo, eg
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/6.2/x86_64/os/Packages/xdvipdfmx-0.4-5.1.el6.x86_64.rpm

There is an xdvik package for SL6 in the epel repo with an xdvi command.
