Google Chrome is its own world of weird problems and hacked up 
libraries. I'm not confident this list is read by the sort who use that 
particular program.

If you don't get any useful responses here I'd recommend heading over to 
http://scientificlinuxforum.org and asking there -- you can probably 
find someone familiar with Chrome and how to manage its peculiar 
problems on SL.
