Dear Bob,
Many packages which used to be part of the standard SL5 repo have
moved to the epel repo in SL6.  yumex is one of them.

You need to do

yum install epel-release

and then try "yum install yumex" again.  If it still doesn't work,
look at the file /etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo and make sure that the
epel repository is enabled.
